Characteristics

The ruddy turnstone has a short and slightly upturned bill. Its feet are short and orange-red, and its body is blended with the chestnut, white, and black colors.
Habits: The ruddy turnstone appears in sandbars, marshes, fishponds, paddy fields, and other mudflats. Its most frequently used foraging method is to turn over the surrounding stones and search for hiding crustaceans, worms, and other invertebrates.
Winter/Common; Body length: 23 cm
Birdwatching period: September-May
